English language challenges

It has been difficult for me to study English online, I think one of the main reasons for this is because it seems to me that the best way to learn English is through conversation and listening, which is difficult to do it by Zoom, either because of connection problems or because of the discomfort of interactions through the cameras. In other way, there are many activities that were very useful, I especially liked the one to comment on photographs and their relationships with each other. Regarding blogs I think they are very good for several reasons. First of all, it forces you to write about certain issues in English, but maintaining a writing style, since these blogs are registered within a personal platform that has to have some identity. It is also good to be able to read partners blogs that treats the same topics, since this way we can compare different ways of expressing ourselves in English but from the same base. Finally, it seems to me that it is good to encourage creative w

Changes to my study program

To start I think that one of the fundamental changes that I would make in the career that I study, film and television would be to remove the entire television area from the career (making all the courses that have some relation with this optative). Leaving the career only as a degree in film. Starting from this, the degree would change faculty, I think it would be appropriate for it to be taught in the arts faculty and not in the communications institute. On this relationship between communication and cinema, Raul Ruiz is very clear "cinema is the antipodes of communication." Regarding the career, one of the changes he would make would be to advance the documentary film work as much as possible and extend it. I think that working on the documentary from the beginning of the degree serves a lot to develop habits and practices, such as being constantly attentive to the environment to record any situation that occurs. In addition to the fact that in countries like Chile where

Time travel to the future

In the first place, if I could choose, I would prefer not to travel to the future in any case, I think that knowing the future, regardless of whether it is a very distant or near future, would generate in me a lot of sadness and anxiety. Mainly because I would lose my surprise and a little interest in life and its events, in addition to the fact that nothing I do would allow me to change what is going to happen would cause me stress. Another thing for which I would not travel to the future would be because of climate change and global warming, I think that a trip to a bit more distant future would be too bleak for a human heart. But considering that I have to choose a time and place to travel, I think I would travel 100 years in the future, to the year 2121. 100 years in the future to see how the city in which I live, Santiago, has changed. I would walk around the neighborhood I live in, try to interact with people to see how the ways of speaking have changed, and even to see if we s

A film making style that I think is interesting

Imagen
I like many filmmakers with very diverse styles, if I could get to make films I would like to use some of their resources and their various methods and operations. But before this, I think it is important to talk about the productive context of cinema. Fellini used to say “When the money runs out the film will be finished” and Deleuze adds to this “Money is the virtual image of the cinematographic image”. Making films is very expensive, everything is expensive, from the equipment, the hourly salary of each member to the post-production and distribution of the films. I believe in looking for ways to decrease, produce less and spend less, in all areas. So I think that filmmaking has to have these considerations, it seems to me that you have to find ways to produce them as cheaply as possible. Now in terms of how I would like films made by me to be, I think that a great reference is Raul Ruiz, in particular his film “Tres tristes tigres”. In this there are two things that I especially l
